We Guide You
Every Step of the Way.

From your first inquiry to your rebate approval. Here's exactly what happens, step by step, when you work with Colorado Xeriscape.

Phase 1

Free Discovery & Rebate Check

Day 1
1

Contact Us

Fill out our quick form with your address, city, and approximate lawn size. Takes 2 minutes.

2

Rebate Verification

We confirm which programs your utility offers, current funding availability, and your exact application window.

3

Free Estimate

We provide a total project estimate showing gross cost, rebate amount, and your net out-of-pocket cost.

Phase 2

Design & Pre-Approval

Weeks 1–3
1

Site Assessment

A team member visits your property to measure the conversion area, assess existing irrigation, and photograph the site. All are required for the application.

2

Landscape Design

We create a qualifying water-wise landscape plan using Colorado-native plants suited to your sun, soil, and HOA requirements. This plan must be submitted with your application.

3

Pre-Approval Submission

We prepare your complete application package — design plans, site photos, and all required forms — ready for submission before any work begins. This step is mandatory. Starting work before pre-approval is the #1 reason rebates are denied.

4

Approval Received

Your city or utility reviews and approves the project. We coordinate any follow-up questions and receive the official green light to proceed.

Phase 3

Installation

Weeks 4–8
1

Contractor Assignment

We assign an ALCC-certified member of our team who has completed projects through your specific utility's program before.

2

Turf Removal

The crew removes existing irrigated turf, preps the soil, and installs the drip irrigation or removes unneeded sprinkler heads per program requirements.

3

Xeriscape Installation

Native plants, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and mulch are installed according to the approved design plan. Hardscape elements are added where applicable.

4

Quality Check

We conduct a pre-inspection walkthrough to confirm everything matches the approved design before the utility sends their inspector.

Phase 4

Rebate Collection

Weeks 9–14
1

Final Inspection

The city or utility sends an inspector to verify the project matches the approved plans. We're present for every inspection to answer questions.

2

Documentation Submission

We compile all final documentation — completion photos, project invoices, and any required W-9 forms — and walk you through submitting your rebate claim.

3

Rebate Issued

Your city issues the rebate check, typically within 4–6 weeks of final inspection. Aurora Water issues 65% immediately after completion and 35% after the following growing season.
